Hello and welcome! My name is Merwareed Mona Fakhry (I go by either Merwareed or Mona) and I am a student therapist at Bloom completing my practicum. I currently attend Yorkville University as a Master of Counselling Psychology student. My lived experience as a diaspora has shaped my approach to therapy, where I aim to support clients’ mental health from an intersectional approach. I strive to understand the sociopolitical, cultural, and historical factors that contribute to people's health and healing. During community initiatives with my community (Afghan diaspora) and other BIPOC diaspora, that center mental health, therapy and wellness, I have witnessed both the intergenerational trauma and healing from our collective pain and resistance. Attending therapy, healing wounds you may not even know were there, uncovering your inner strengths, is an individual and collective resistance. I hope you will allow me to support you as you navigate this journey.

Being a student therapist means I am still learning many approaches and here are a few theories/frameworks I hope to embody aspects of during our work together with your growth and safety in mind:

 • Mindfulness-Based therapy
 • Emotional Focused therapy
 • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
 • A Culturally Responsive and Socially Just Framework

I believe in collective, generational and ancestral ways of healing that are personal to the client and their community. I hope to work together to support you in bringing those aspects of yours/your peoples' stories and ways of being in the therapeutic space. If you feel we would work well together, I encourage you to reach out for a free consultation. It takes courage to seek support and my goal is for you to feel supported, seen and empowered in our work together.

I am clinically supervised by Avni Jain, M.Ed RP.

Hi there, my name is Vanessa. Thank you for visiting my profile! I am a Registered Psychotherapist with the province of Ontario. I’ve worked for 7+ years in the Mental Health industry and graduated from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto, where I received my Master of Education in Counselling Psychology and Psychotherapy.

As a licensed psychotherapist with the CRPO and OAMHP, I am skilled in CBT, Mindfulness, Solution-focused therapy, Anger management, and developing healthy coping strategies for Depression and Anxiety. I provide emotional support to clients of diverse age ranges and cultural backgrounds in order to achieve their best possible selves. My goal is to provide a caring and safe environment in which you can set meaningful goals, as well as identify and explore issues that may be getting in the way of living a more fulfilling life and more satisfying relationships.

I am bilingual and offer services in both French and English. I am also experienced in working with historically disadvantaged and marginalized groups, including First Nations, Metis and Inuit peoples, Black and South Asian POC, Indigenous peoples of North America, persons with disabilities, and those who identify as women and/or 2SLGBTQ+.

My therapy approach is eclectic, as I draw from many therapeutic modalities to suit your personal needs in treatment. I am humanistic, feminist oriented and anti-oppressive in my therapeutic approach. My goal is to provide you with the insights and tools you need to move forward and live to your fullest potential.
