Challenges and pain in life are inevitable, however recognizing when you are struggling and asking for help requires great courage. I see your bravery and your strength.

I hope together we can explore how your past experiences as well as patterns in thinking and behaviour keep you feeling stuck and overwhelmed. I also hope that by the end of our work together you will have acquired new insights and tools necessary to achieve your goals, and deeper self-awareness and self-compassion.

I strive to create a safe and welcoming environment that allows you to be yourself. I will always approach you with compassion and curiosity, and gently challenge you when appropriate.

I have experience in offering evidenced-based therapies to address a variety of concerns. However, I have special interest in helping adults work through: anxiety, depression, stress, perfectionism, grief and loss, life transitions, and interpersonal issues.

If you think we could work well together, I encourage you to reach out. It would be an honour to meet you where you are at and walk alongside you on your journey.

(she/her pronouns)

Hi there! I’m Maria. I’m a Registered Social Worker, and Psychotherapist (MSW, RSW). I am passionate about helping people develop self-awareness and self-compassion, and make meaningful changes in their lives.

My interest in the human mind and spirit emerged at a young age and inspired me to go on to complete my Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from the University of Toronto, specializing in Mental Health. Through my experience working in clinical research and in primary healthcare, I’ve developed a special interest and skill in providing therapy to address: anxiety, low mood, stress, perfectionism, grief and loss, life transitions, and interpersonal struggles.

My approach when connecting with clients is always client-centered, strengths-based, anti-oppressive, and trauma-informed. I embrace diversity in my practice and strive to create an environment where clients will feel comfortable to be themselves. The values of authenticity, empathy, and honesty are guiding forces in my life and can be seen through my warm, genuine and candid therapeutic style.

When I am not working with clients, my favourite self-care practices are to curl up with a book and a cup of tea, or to spend time in nature. I believe that personal growth and healing are life-long journeys, and I continue to work towards holding myself to a standard of grace not perfection.
